Welcome To Blunt Therapy!
Blunt Therapy is a professional mental health blog. By that, I mean that I’m a licensed therapist with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. That’s important because it means that you can trust the information on this site. If you’d like to learn more about my qualifications, visit the “about the editor” page.
There are lots of personal mental health bloggers who write about their own experiences. That’s fine. It’s just not what we do here on Blunt Therapy.
On Blunt Therapy, you’ll find well-researched and helpful articles on topics related to mental health, addictions, therapy, relationships, and parenting. We have more than two dozen contributing writers, many of them with advanced degrees and impressive credentials.
If you’ll keep following me down, I’ll give you a brief tour of the site and highlight some pages and posts that I think you might want to visit.
Why I Started Blunt Therapy
Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve never felt quite comfortable in my own skin. I’m much better now, but for decades I struggled with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and substance abuse issues.
Things came to a head in 2005 when I got in trouble at work for drug use. I went to rehab, started attending 12-Step meetings, and eventually began a journey of recovery that led me back to school, where I earned a masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I’m now a practicing therapist in North Carolina where I specialize in co-occurring disorders, depression, and relationship issues.
The point is, I have both professional and personal experience in mental health matters. I also like to write, so here we are.
I believe that a well-informed client is an empowered client. So, if there’s any way I can help you learn more about mental health, it follows that you’ll be more successful at maintaining it.
